The Little Prince,
the whole story in sculptures
Sometimes magic encounters happen. That was back in spring 2006, a
Friday, I was in my studio, sitting in front of a clump of dirt. I
should say that every Friday I force myself to create a piece. When
no ideas come, it really pushes your imagination.
In
short I was in front of the clay, with my chisel, tracing lines here
and there without really knowing what the final result could be.
After few hours, he was there looking at me.
I
didn’t recognize him immediately, just like when you cross a
childhood’s friend whom you had forgotten. You first recognize a
smile, a gesture, a glance and, suddenly a great happiness fills you
up and you recognize him. This is how The Little Prince was revealed
to me, in the same way the story had been told to me when I was very
young.
Thereafter I took great pleasure to read this wonderful history
again. As the months were passing by and, inspired by Antoine de
Saint-Exupéry, I worked on many new sculptures.
Today, it is with great pleasure that I offer you this series of
sculptures representing my interpretation of The Little Prince of
Saint-Exupéry.
I
dedicate this exhibition to all these forgotten friends of
childhood. Wishing that one day you will have the chance to
recognize a smile, a gesture, a glance that will translate into a
great joy.
